KUCHING: Police have successfully arrested a murder suspect yesterday afternoon in Stakan.

The 36-year-old wanted man, was arrested at about 1 pm. at the roadside along Jalan Stakan Batu Perak Kuching.

Sarawak CID Head SAC Dennis Leong confirmed that the suspect is a
wanted man in the murder of Dick Then Teck Chin who was killed last September.

It was alleged that Dick was beaten to death after he was accused to be a burglar in the night of September 30 last year at Jalan Chin
Phing.

In the case police had received a call at about 2 am that a man later identified as Dick was unconscious and injured after being attacked by a group of men.

When police took Dick to the police station, he was unconscious and never regained consciousness. He was pronounced dead at 4.15 am that same morning.

The remains were sent to Sarawak General Hospital morgue for a post mortem. There were injuries found on several parts of Dick’s body which was beaten with blunt objects.

Initial investigation revealed that Dick was confronted by several men
and was alleged to have broken into residencial houses in Kota Sentosa.

Dick was said to have his legs tied to the wheels of a vehicle and
beaten with iron rods and rubber hose.

After the incident, one of the suspects called the police and claimed that there was a drunkard in their area.

Police have now arrested two men aged 27 and 31 for murder and to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code that carries the death penalty upon conviction.
