KUCHING: Approximately 400 participants are expected to attend the Academy For Silent Mentor (AFSM) Tripartite Conference 2018. There will be pre-congress workshops from December 12-13 at the Sarawak Heart Centre and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) City Campus, followed by the conference at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from December 14-15.
According to AFSM chairman and founding director, Professor Dr Chin Kin Fah, the three conferences will be the 5th Academic Conference for the Asian Society of Cryosurgery, the Inaugural Conference on Cancer Innovation and the Inaugural Conference on Humanity, Bioethics, and Medical Outreach.
“Being a local boy who grew up here in India Street, it is always my wish to bring something good to our home town. “Having launched the silent mentor programme in collaboration with UNIMAS on May 21 last year and our first medical outreach programme along the Rajang River in March this year, AFSM is determined to deliver its promise of making a positive impact on healthcare and education in Sarawak as well as the Asia Pacific region.
“It is one of our objectives to organise and run a successful conference not only for the medical professional and academicians but also for the geenral public,” Dr Chin said. At the same time, he also called for more sponsorships to achieve a balanced economy for AFSM which is dedicated to delivering the conference at a subsidised fee.
