SIBU: As s i s tant Mini s ter of Education and Technological Research, Dr Annuar Rapaee on Friday night led 58 contingents comprising more than 4,000 people in a procession to mark the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.

The 2.1km procession began at An-Nur Mosque heading to Awang Ramli Amit Road, Kampung Nyabor, Sanyan Road, Pulau Road, Bujang Suntong Road and ended at Sibu Town Square Phase I.

This year’s Maulidur Rasul was celebrated with a difference in Sibu, in the sense that the procession was held at night.

The Bujang Suntong Road was closed from 7pm until 11pm to facilitate the procession. Accompanying Dr Annuar were Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee and Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce.
