48,257 business licences applied via BLESS

KUCHING: Sarawak was chosen to be the third location for Business Outreach Programmne this year due to the increasing trends of business community.

The programme held at Mydin Petra Jaya here saw 11 government agencies and entrepreneurs participating in the two-day programme from 25 to 26 July, 2018.

Speaking during the launching ceremony of the programme, Deputy Director General (Strategic Development) Implementation Coordination Unit under the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Zolkopli Dahalan said that the records obtained through SMECorp Portal until 2016 showed that there were a total of 60,800 business communities in the state.

“Out of the total, 48,257 transaction for licences application through Business Licensing Electronic Support System (BLESS) have been made.

“The registered user with BLESS system also recorded 18,393 users in Sarawak,” he pointed out.

He said that the programme provided a platform or opportunity to business communities in the state to interact with the licensing authority in the programme to get information on their business and seek advice on solving the business licensing issues faced.

“Business sector is one of the most important sectors and becomes the focus of the government towards realising the country’s goals to grow and become competitive.

“It is a major contributor to optimise income generation as well as to ensure the prosperity and balance of the country’s economy and the competitiveness in the world’s economy,” he concluded.
