BINTULU: Some 500 people attended the Majlis Doa Awal/AkhirTahun (Maal Hijrah) at Masjid Assyakirin here Thursday night.
Bintulu played host the state-level Maal Hijrah 1439H/2017M celebration.
State Imam Chief, Ustaz Haji Mustapha Kamal Hj Ahmad Fauzi led the doa awal/akhir tahun followed by the Maghrib prayers and a special talked ceramah Maal Hijrah – ‘Hijrah Wahana Ummah dan Pembinaan Tamadun Berkualiti’ by Prof Dato Zakaria Stapa from Institut Islam Hadhari, University Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Followed by the mass Isyak prayers and a ‘zikir marhaban’ led by Al-Quran teacher from Sarawak Islamic Council Hj.Ismawi Hj. Duet before adjourning for dinner with the non-Muslim guests.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tun Datuk Patinggi Tuanku Haji Bujang, state cabinet ministers, assistant ministers, members of parliament, state assemblymen, president of Sarawak Islamic council Datu Misnu Taha, state mufti Dato Kipli Yasin, heads of departments, community leaders and other members of the congregation were among those attended.
