SIBU: A 55-year-old man was arrested by the police and was remanded starting on Monday for further investigation for physical sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl who was also a grandniece at one of the houses in Sungai Bidut.
Sibu Pol ice chief ACP Zailanni Amit said on October 22, about 4.30pm, the victim’s mother had left the house to buy some items for the family.
“The victim’s mother (the complainant) left her daughter (victim) with her 3-year-old grandchild at home. “At about 5pm, the victim’s mother arrived at home and found that the victim was crying. The victim informed her that during her absence, her granduncle had visited their home and entered the victim’s room.
“The suspect then opened the victim’s pants by force and poke the victim’s private part with a finger several times. The victim had fought and resisted,” he told reporters on Monday. The victim’s mother then lodged a police report against the suspect after being told by the victim about the sexual harassment by his granduncle.
He said initial testimony of the victim had been taken and stated, when her mother came out to buy essential items, the suspect then came to their home. “Victim and 3-year old nephew were in the upper room and were preparing a school book.
“The suspect came to their home and went to the upper room and asked about the other family members. When the victim said that only the two of them (she and her 3-year old nephew) were in the house, the suspect then entered the room and locked the door. “The suspect then poke the private part of the victim with his finger several times.
The victim then cried due to the pain. She then, kicked the suspect until he fell down. Suspect then got up and ran away from the victim’s home,” Zailanni said. He added that the victim was sent to Sibu Hospital for further examination and the suspect was also taken to the hospital for DNA sampling.
