BELURU: A total of 595 people affected by the recent flood from Beluru received RM500 cash aid from the government.

The aid was handed over by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Marudi Assemblyman Datu Dr. Penguang Manggil in a ceremony held at Beluru Community Hall, this morning.

Speaking at the event Penguang advised the recipients to spend the money prudently.

He said, the money is not a compensation but as assistance from the government for them who faced the hardship at the recent flood early this year.

“We hope that with the cash aid could ease the burden of the recipients. Use the money wisely for the benefits of the family,” he added.

He disclosed, a total of 26 people from six families had received the cash aid for the first batch on end of March recently.

Meanwhile, he reminded the Dayak community who celebrate Gawai not to drink too much to avoid any untoward incident.
