MIRI: From Dec 3 last year until Jan 1 this year, a total of 69 dogs have been registered with Miri City Council (MCC) since the registration of dog licences are made compulsory, revealed city mayor Adam Yii.

“However, it does not include the registration of cats,” he said.

Yii further added, in order to encourage the dog owners to apply for dog licence,  those applications submitted between Dec 3 last year until Feb 28 this year will be given a one-year exemption on the fee from Dec 1 (2018) until November 30 this year.

“The application form can be downloaded from the official website of Miri City Council or obtained directly from the UTC’s counter,” he said.

The requirement is being carried out under The Local Authorities (Dog Licensing and Control) By-Laws, 2018.

Under the By-Laws, it is compulsory for dog owners to obtain the licence for a fee of RM30 per sterilised dog and RM90 per non-sterilised dog for the duration of three years.
