KUCHING: 800 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) broke their fast with the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Ragad Kurdi Taib at Masjid Solahuddin Al-Ayyub, Penrissen Camp here on Sunday.

The breaking of fast was also attended by Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who represented the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg, Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato’ Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Eastern Region Commander, Lieutenant-General Dato’ Wira Mohd Zaki Bin Haji Mokhtar and wife, Datin Noraihan Bt Ibrahim and First Division Infantry Malaysia Commander, Major-General Datuk Stephen Mundaw and wife, Datin Jacqueline Peris.

Also present at the breaking of fast were Stakan State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Ali Mahmud and President of Sarawak Islamic Council, Datu Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha.

Later, after the breaking of fast, the Head of State and wife joined the congregation for Maghrib prayers. The couple then handed over hampers and contributions to five widows, 22 orphans and 20 Muslim converts.
