KUCHING: Kampung Opar, Bau is located about 50 kms from Kuching. Most of its residents are Bidayuh Jagoi. The village is now quiet but during the recent Gawai Dayak festival, especially on the first day, the village was full of people.

On the first day of Gawai, a few rituals, rarely seen nowadays, were performed.

They attracted many foreign tourists and students from local and international institutions who came to the village to witness the rituals and celebrate the annual festival together with the villagers.
