KUCHING: An old double storey abandoned building at Jalan Semangat in Pending Industrial Estate was reportedly totally razed to the ground yesterday afternoon. A distressed call regarding the fire incident was received at 1244 hrs, according to information received from Pusat Gerakan Operasi Bomba Sarawak yesterday.

According to the report from Operation Commander, the razed house was used as quarters for workers that had been abandoned for sometimes. It was totally burned and housed seven rooms of 20 feet by 30 feet each.

Nevertheless, the building next door with a just a distance of one metre was not affected by the fire. No casualty was reported in the fire and its cause was still under probe.

Assets involved in the fire incident included one vehicle and eight firemen from Tabuan Jaya Fire Station led by PB Rafiee plus two vehicles from Padungan Fire Station manned by 14 firemen led by PBK II Abu Bakar. The whole operation was commanded by PPgB Chong Bui Chyan who is Zone Operation Officer.
