KUCHING: Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg, yesterday launched the Photography, Selfie and Wefie Competition organised in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
The month-long competition will commence on August 1 and end on August 31, 2018 with the DUN building as the main subject matter.
Three categories are offered, namely, Photography – “Point and Shoot Camera” and DSLR Camera which is divided into three sections such as Open, College/University/Higher Learning Institution, and High Schools (Age from 13 to 17 years old), Selfie – Mobile Phone Camera (Open), and Wefie – Mobile Phone Camera (Open).
The competition is open to Malaysians and tourists and the photographs must be taken during the period of the 150th Sarawak DUN Anniversarry Celebration.
The photographs must be printed into 8X12 inch sizes together with digital soft copies of 8X12 inch dimension.
There is no registration fee. The registration form is available from the DUN website at www.dun.sarawak.gov.my and at Nonakraft Communication Sdn Bhd, No 59 Rumah Kedai, Taman Heng Guan, Jalan Matang, Kuching during office hours.
Over RM40,000 worth of cash prizes are up for grabs. The registration form can be sent by post or directly to “Pengerusi, Jawatankuasa Kecil Pertandingan Fotografi/Selfie/Wefie, c/o Pejabat Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak, Bangunan Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak, Petra Jaya, 93502 Kuching” or “Pengerusi, Jawatankuasa Kecil Pertandingan Fotografi/Selfie/Wefie, d/a Nonakraf Communication Sdn Bhd, No 59 Rumah Kedai, Taman Heng Guan, Jalan Matang, Kuching”.
According to the Organising Chairman, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, the competition aims to promote the DUN building.
“The prize presentation date will be announced later. The closing date for registration is August 31, 2018 at noon,” he added.
