SIBU: Ahmad Qadri Basri @ Boseri and Dr Lynn Ko Wei Linn are this year’s recipients of the ‘Sarawak Youth Awards 2018’ – a programme meant as a medium to recognise the roles played by Sarawak youths and also to get them closer to the government.
The presentation ceremony was held in conjunction with the state-level Youth Day 2018 celebration at Sibu Indoor Stadium yesterday.
Ahmad, 29, from Mukah earned his award for his active involvement in association activities and also in assisting many youth-related activities.
Meanwhile, Dr Lynn, 30, from Kuching, who is a dentist, led many humanitarian activities to help the people.
Each of them took home RM5,000, a trophy and certificate. For the ‘Association Category’ award, ‘Persatuan Belia Warisan Kenyalang’ came out top, followed by ‘Pertubuhan Halaqah Kemajuan Muslim Sarawak’. The winning club received RM10,000, a trophy and certificate, while the runner-up took home RM7,000, trophy and certificate.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg presented the prizes in the presence of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah as well as Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan and other VIPs.
