KUCHING: The DBPRO (Dead Body Protector) by UNIMAS, an alternative cover to protect the dead body from public view during accidents. The Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that it was one of a kind product that is produced locally with the collaboration between UNIMAS and JSMAT Development and Construction, to help address the issue of proper covering of dead body from the public view.
“When this product (DBPRO) enters the market, I am sure the local authorities especially the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), and other relevant agencies will utilise this DBPRO when called to attend to accident scenes on the road,” said the Deputy CM.
Speaking during the launching ceremony of Environmental Safety Programme and DBPRO at DeTAR Putra in UNIMAS yesterday, Tengah hoped that all relevant local authorities and government will start to use the product by 2018. Tengah also added that he will talk to the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on the further development of the product.
Meanwhile, UNIMAS Deputy Chanc e l lor (Academi c and International), Prof Dr Wan Hisham Wan Ibrahim said that DBPRO holds three copyright patent classes, namely Class 10, Class 16 and Class 22. “Developed by a group of researchers, namely Assoc Prof Dr Saiful Bahari Mohd Yusoff, Zalina Ibrahim and Norshaiful Husni Zaukifli, DBPRO have won a few awards, namely Industrial Network Award in IIDEX 2010 as well as Silver Medal Award during the Seoul International Invention Fair 2014,” said the Deputy Chancellor.
