PADANG BESAR: The Armed Forces must continue to be loyal to the King and country, as well as serve the people and the ruling government, says the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. “In line with current political developments, members of the military need to be aware that changes frequently occur in whatever situation.

“Political parties may come and go, however, the military institution will always be there to defend the country, race and religion. Thus, the military needs to carry out their tasks and responsibilities with utmost integrity and professionalism,” he said.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also the Commander of the 504th Regiment of Malaysian Territorial Army, was speaking at the 60th anniversary celebration of the regiment at Kampung Gial in Arau on Sunday. During the celebration, he also presented a new house for single mother, Azlina Othman at the village.

The contribution of the house was part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme for participants of the 21st series (21/2018) of the Masters in Team Governance Management course conducted at the Army Senior Officers Institute in collaboration with University Malaya in March.

The Tuanku Syed Putra Foundation, together with entrepreneurs, Datuk Vincent Lye and Tan Mann Chai, contributed RM38,000 for the construction costs of the house while the Royal Army Engineers Regiment carried out its construction.

In conjunction with the CSR programme, a cycling activity, the 42nd “MAIPs Peduli Menjejaki Asnaf ” programme, was also carried out at Masjid Assobirin Kampung Gial.

Earlier, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin presented tithe contributions worth RM72,000 from the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council to 120 “asnaf” (those eligible to receive tithes) from Oran, Padang Siding and Mata Ayer. Each “asnaf” received RM600. – Bernama
