KUCHNG: A board game creation challenge will be held on 5 and 6 August at SMK St. Joseph School Hall here from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily.

On 10 February 2012, KDU University College was awarded with a Pemandu Entry Point Project initiative under the Economic Transformation Plan and the National Key Results Area (Education) to spearhead the Game Development Industry in Malaysia focusing on awareness and talent building activities.

On 3 April 2013, a Pemandu NKEA (Education) Steering Committee meeting chaired by Datuk Seri Idris Jala and attended by senior Ministry of Education officials was held and it approved several Game Development Awareness Initiatives.

One of the initiatives was to develop awareness building on game development and technology among the Malaysian secondary school students.

In conjunction with this initiative, for the first time in Kuching, students aged 16 to 18 are invited to participate in the Tabletop 2017 Battle Royale (Board Game Creation Challenge).

Jointly organised by MyGameDev, KDU University College and EduQuest Education Services, the challenge is a 2-day event which pits students from various schools against each other to develop the most interesting Tabletop (board game).

Participants will be given a theme and a wide selection of knick-knacks which they can use to create playing pieces, spinners, boards or even cards to be use in the game.
