BELADIN: The body of an Indonesian plantation worker who was attacked by a crocodile at Pelasan River here was found on the fifth day of a search by two anglers who were fishing at the river at around 11.30am yesterday.

Betong District APM chief, Lieutenant Azamsah Apearal said the deceased identified only as Sulaiman, 25, was found by two anglers. The body was taken out of Ladang Semarang in a vehicle and taken to Pusa Police Station before being sent to Betong Hospital.

“The body was found floating and still intact,” he said, adding that the body was found about 250 metres from the spot where the victim was attacked by a crocodile.

He said the operation was jointly carried out by the Betong District Defence Force (APM) team, Betong Fire and Rescue Services Department (Bomba), Betong Police, Pusa Police Station, plantation management and staffers and villagers started at 8.30am and ended at 2.30pm.

In incident around 6.00pm last Thursday, the victim was attacked by a crocodile while checking his fishing rods with his friend at the Pelasan River.
