DEBAK: The body of a man identified as Ampi @ Steward Ampi Gani, 69, who went missing after he went to take bath in a river, was found stuck to a tree truck at Ulu Rimbas River here, yesterday.

According Head of Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), Nik Muhammad Afiq Nik Roslan, the body was found stuck to a tree trunk about three kilometres from the spot where he was believed to be taking his bath.

“Around 8.30 am, about 100 metres down river from where the victim went missing, the search and rescue (SAR) team found the victim’s towel and a bar of soap.

“But after more than two hours of searching and based on the clues, the SAR team found the victim’s body at 11.18am, stuck on a tree trunk at the river,” he said.

Meanwhile, Betong Fire and Rescue Station Operation Officer (BBP) PBK I Henry Jugah said the victim was found clad in blue shorts pant and his body was still intact.

The SAR operation concluded with the discovery of the body.

In the incident which happened last Monday, Ampi was believed to have gone missing when he failed to return home after going to a river near Rumah Martin Gana, Ulu Rimbas here to bathe.
