Boy hurt in attack

MIRI: A 16-year-old boy suffered a swollen neck and face after he was allegedly beaten up by three assailants whom he knew at Taman Tunku on Tuesday morning.

According to Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah when confirming the incident said the victim was allegedly cornered by the three assailants before they began to attack him using a rubber hose.

The incident reportedly happened at around 4am.

Following the incident police arrested three suspects for questioning.

“All the suspects have been remanded for three days,” said Lim.

Preliminary investigation revealed that all suspects were the victim’s classmates since they were in Primary Five.

It was believed that the incident happened over RM30.

Prior to the attack, one of the suspects had given RM50 to the victim to buy three reload top-up cards (RM10 each).

“The victim had used the balance of RM20 to buy two bottles of coca-cola, biscuits and kuaci (Chrysanthemum seeds. However, the suspects accused the victim of stealing the money (the balance),” said Lim.

Displeased that the victim had used all the RM50, the suspects decided to beat him up.

Apart from attacking the victim with rubber hose the suspects also allegedly wrapped the rubber hose on the victim’s neck which resulted in bruises on the neck.
