MUKAH: A teacher of MARA Junior Science College of Mukah(MRSM Mukah) who is on transfer was treated to a farewell brunch on Wednesday. Held at Kingwood Hotel, here, the event organised by MRSM Mukah Badan Muafakat was meant for the college Deputy Principal (Student Development), Mohd Nasrul Bin Hartoyo, who will be transferred to MRSM Alor Gajah in Melaka.

The friendly teacher who hails from Negeri Sembilan and will be leaving Mukah on June 28 had been attached to MRSM Mukah for the last eighteen months. When speaking to New Sarawak Tribune at the function, he considered the courtesy call to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Bin Mahmud, last year as a very memorable occasion.

“I put it on the top of the list because it was really a rare opportunity to go to the Astana Negeri, and moreover I am from other state, and even many Sarawakians I guest never step in that palace. That special occasion was when we invited Tun to attend the MRSM Mukah’s 7th Graduation Event held in October last year. So I consider myself as amongst the fortunate ones to go to the Astana,” he said.

Besides it, he added that despite of his stay just only over a year in Mukah, he managed to witness Melanau ethnic biggest festival twice, one in 2017 and Mukah Kaul 2018.

“ I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Badan Muafakat headed by Nolin, the principal and all the teaching and non teaching staff of MRSM Mukah for the undivided cooperation given to me throughout my short tenure, here. And not forget also to the parents and students for making my working here a very memorable one, too,” he disclosed.

Before working in Mukah, Nasrul was serving at MRSM Serding of Negeri Sembilan for fifteen years, making MRSM being the main part of his working life. He also considered his transfer to Melaka as `balik kampung(returning home)’ because it is located near to his home state, Negeri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, Badan Muafakat Chairwoman, Nolin Ak Gendang, also expressed her special gratitude to Nasrul and wished him the best in the new working place.

“Thank you very much for your priceless contribution especially for our children. I hope you will come back to Mukah, if not working, just make a visit. All the best in your the new working environment,” she said. Besides Nolin, also present at the brunch were MRSM Mukah Deputy Principal Academic Affairs, Affandi Ak Rumpa, MRSM Mukah Deputy Principal Co-curriculum, Fauzi B Raman, who will also be tasked to replace Nasrul (Student Development), Badan Muafakat Secretary Mohd Sofrie bin Mantaril and the exco members.
