KUCHING: The youth in Sarawak are hoping that the Budget 2019 to be tabled on November 2 will provide them with some form of relief in addressing the various socio-economic issues being faced by them.

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student Fiona Wilson, 23, said she hoped the government would assist in allocating additional financial aid for the local universities, especially UiTM, to conduct research and development projects outside of the campus.

The business studies student at the Samarahan Campus near here said the government could also help fresh graduates by providing specific financial loans and business programmes to enable them to start their own business ventures.

“It is very competitive and challenging to look for a job nowadays, nevertheless, we cannot rely too much on the government, we have to work hard for ourselves too,” she said when met by Bernama here yesterday.

Meanwhile bank officer, Shairine Sin Liang, 24, said she was optimistic the coming budget would bring good news especially for working people such as lower prices of cars and other vehicles. – BERNAMA
