KUCHING: Konsortium Dayak Perintis Sdn Bhd (KDPSB), a consortium under the purview of the Dayak Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), has received a Letter of Award of Contract from Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd (PPKSB), to undertake construction works along the Bakun Junction to Sungai Tangap Bridge stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway.
Present at a simple ceremony to hand-over the Letter of Award of Contract yesterday was Albert Ling Lu Siong, Executive Director of Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd, and Leonard Martin Uning who represented Konsortium Dayak Perintis Sdn Bhd.
Under the contract, Konsortium Dayak Perintis is appointed as sub-contractor to Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit for construction works of three interchanges at Bakun, Niah and Suai, as well as a bridge construction at Sungai Niah.
According to Leonard Martin Uning, “As a Sarawak Bumiputera contractor, we take this as a challenge and in good faith. We see this as a test to show that given the opportunity, Bumiputera contractors can deliver. We hope the Government will support us.”
In total, 35 Bumiputera contractors had earlier received Letters of Intent for works on Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak. Konsortium Dayak Perintis and five other Bumiputera contractors have since been able to secure Letters of Award for Contracts from the main contractors of the various works packages of the highway project.
