Businesses to go rural with MoU

KUCHING: Efinity Social Enterprise and BitNicx Exchange signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to declare their commitment in reaching out to the rural communities.

Present to witness the signing at iCube Innovation, iCom Square here yesterday was Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Founder of BitNicx Exchange Johnny Bong said the MoU objective is to have an understanding between the Efinity Social Enterprise and BitNicx Exchange in their commitment to reach out to the rural communities with aids, particularly basic necessities such as clean drinking water.

“Tomorrow (today) we will be giving out 100 Efinity EZ Water caps (use in water filters) to 100 families in Kampung Munggu Ili & Ulu in Simunjan.

“We will continue to distribute this item in out other programmes in the future,” he said.

Dr Sim meanwhile said to the local communities the corporate social responsibility (CSR) water project is very meaningful.

“Water is a main infrastructure as the state government under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will spend RM2 billion for water supply this year and hope it will

reach the majority of the household in the two to three years from now.

“And clean water is a basic need of the people. By providing this water filter to them,they will have the opportunity to consume clean water,” he added.

At the signing ceremony, Efinity Social Enterprise was represented by its founder and CEO Teng Yu-Mein while BitNicx Exchange was represented by  Johnny.

Efinity Social Enterprise was incorporated on 7th November 2016 with business focus in the development and commercialisation of new innovations, and providing training and consultations to innovators particularly from the ‘Grassroots’ category.

Efinity Social Enterprise operates on a ‘not-for-profit’ but self-sustainable business model.

As for Bitnicx Exchange, it was founded in August 2018 and will be officially launched shortly.
