SRI AMAN: The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel of Sri Aman district on late Monday afternoon quickly went to help a male senior citizen who reportedly was in a kind of emergency situation and needed an urgent help in Kampung Hilir, Sri Aman.

Its officer Capt (PA) Siti Huzaimah Haji Ibrahim said the elderly man who was in need of urgent help at 7.32pm on that day was known as Bujang Belly bin Taip, aged 70 . “The moment we received a call for an urgent help, APM Sri Aman sent our personnel, comprising L/Cpl (PA) Jacky Enus, Private (PA) Syaidatul Nadia and Private (PA) Mohd Zulkarnie, immediately to the residence of the elderly man concerned.

“Upon checking, the elderly man was found to have difficulty in breathing. Our personnel subsequently rushed Bujang to Sri Aman Hospital at 7.55pm after giving first aid help to him,” said Siti. Meanwhile, Siti said that those needing assistance should quickly contact APM Sri Aman at 083- 320973 whenever there is an emergency situation at their residence of area in the future.

“The public in Sri Aman area should also contact us on that line in the case of any emergency situation at their area or residence, including natural disasters,” she said. In another development, Siti also said their personnel had just done a road clearing at Batu Lintang junction near here. The road was blocked by a falling oil palm tree that occurredon early Monday morning.

“A motorist had contacted us at 2.20am after finding out that the falling oil palm tree had made it impossible for any vehicle to pass through that part of the road. This was a result of strong winds and heavy rainfall earlier.

“Our side then quickly rushed to the said location and cleared the road of any obstruction from the falling tree which could have easily caused accidents, if left unattended,” Siti said. APM Sr i Aman per sonnel involved in the emergency help included L/Cpl (PA) Sprin Joe, Private (PA) Joseph Badar and Private (PA) Jurizan Osman, said Siti who added the task of clearing the road took about three hours.
