MIRI: A woman who pretended to buy a shirt at a clothing boutique here was suspected to have left the shop and taking the owner’s smartphone on her way out on Wednesday evening.

In the 3.30pm incident, the 30-year-old woman came alone to the premises pretending to buy clothes.

According to sources, the woman pretended to choose clothes and then went to the fitting room to try them.

“After almost an hour in the premises, the woman then pretended to make a payment at the counter before she informed that she did not have enough money to pay for the dress.

“She then asked the owner of the premises to wait for a while as she went to a nearby bank to withdraw money,

“After about 15 minutes passed, the woman did not show and only then the shop owner realised that her Oppo’s smartphone that was earlier placed on the counter was missing,” said the source.
