This was revealed by the Mayor himself during the breaking of fast and Ramadan contribution ceremony held at the MBKS Dewan Masyarakat here last Thursday.

“Today (31 May 2018) is the last day of my fifth term as Mayor of MBKS and I would like to thank everybody – including the people of Kuching and state government – who have helped me along these years to serve as Mayor.

“Of course, I was also being told that my term has been extended until the end of this year and I would like to thank Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk  Dr Sim Kui Hian, State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, the rest of the State Cabinet, and also the State Assemblymen and Members of Parliament  who have helped me by giving me constructive feedback.

“I would also like to thank the councillors and with this new term until the end of the year, I will try to do my best to continue what I’ve done, especially to improve the infrastructure.

“It’ll be beneficial to the people of Kuching in general and I will also make sure there are more community programmes to ensure unity among us and that Kuching remains vibrant and peaceful,” he said.

That night, Ramadan contributions were given to children from needy families.
