Chinese New Year message from SUPP Secretary- General, Datuk Sebastian Ting

We will soon be welcoming the new year of the Dog with great hopes. A dog symbolises man’s best friend as it signifies loyalty, friendship and sincerity.
As the New Year begins, let us also start anew. On behalf of Sarawak United People’s Party, I am pleased to extend Chinese New Year wishes to all Chinese living in Sarawak and in Malaysia including those living abroad.
I wish the senior people, children and every family happiness, prosperity and good health in the New Year and throughout the whole year 2018.
There are some of them who are unable to come back for reunion with their family members due to their work or duty to the nation, living far away from Sarawak. On behalf of the Party, I wish to offer my sincere greetings to them and wish them good health and full of success in whatever they are doing. Nonetheless, please remember to find some time to call and come back to visit your family members because family is the most important thing in the world.
The year 2017 was an extraordinary year for Sarawak. We had seen many achievements and transformations under the new leadership of YAB Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg. Digital economy, Petros, Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Sarawak Research & Development Council (SRDC) and Argo Park to name a few.
The achievements and transformations were not easy but with the strong leadership and aspiration from the Chief Minister, we are able to lay out a grand blueprint to develop Sarawak into greater heights and rapidly.
We are expecting to see more reforms in 2018 for the purpose of making Sarawak stronger and prosperous including building a fair, just and equal society for all peoples irrespective of religion, race, gender or creed.
Nationally, Sarawak is moving seriously in asserting its Rights and special privileges as clearly promised and agreed in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.We, Sarawakians must continue to stay united and speak in one voice. It is our dream to see Sarawak becomes a developed nation one day.
Life is always full of hopes. Success always belongs to those that work hard and dedicate their life in achieving it.
Always be humble, honest and work hard together in writing the new chapter for the development of our ‘bumi kenyalang’.
