KUCHING : Sarawak Pakatan Chairman, Chong Chieng Jen, who is also Stampin Member of Parliament, said it was up to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia to see if it could establish itself
in Sarawak.
“Ultimately, that depends on the support of Sarawakians. It is not for any political party to say “yes” or “no” to Pribumi entering Sarawak but rather the people of Sarawak.
“However, the following are the few salient points about Pribumi in Sarawak. Pribumi is not UMNO. It is UMNO and its racism that Sarawakians reject all this while, not Pribumi. The members of Pribumi in Sarawak will still be Sarawakians. Pribumi in Sarawak will still subscribe to the same Pakatan Harapan policies which are generally accepted by the people of Sarawak,” he added.
Chong said ultimately, it was not the individual party that mattered but rather the policies of the Pakatan Harapan government about good governance, transparency and justice that matter most to the people in Sarawak.
He reckoned the entry of Pribumi to Sarawak would pose an additional threat to Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (Parti PBB) and increase the chances of PH Sarawak changing the
State government in the next State Elections.
