KUCHING: A total of RM300,000 was raised during the Chung Hua Middle School No. 1 Fund Raising Carnival held at its premises at Jalan Pending here yesterday. The annual fund raising event, held in conjunction with the school’s 60th anniversary, aimed to raise funds for the school’s operation.

Over 10,000 members of the public thronged the school from 9am to 12pm yesterday to visit the 150 participating stalls. The stalls were set up by the students themselves, alumni and private sector, including banks and insurance companies.

Minister of Local Government and Housing and Chairman of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian was also there to launch the carnival. Also present were Kuching Chung Hua Middle School No. 1, 3 & 4 Committee Chairman, Dato Richard Wee and the school’s Principal, Yap Chong Guan.
