MUKAH: The organising committee of a reunion dinner for the 1967 batch of Form Five students of SMK Mukah is poised to make it a memorable one for them.

For that, the committee members have recently personally extended an invitation to one of the form teachers who is now residing in Sibu.

“Since this reunion is very important to every one of us, it would be very appropriate to have our teachers, too. Hence, we recently went to Sibu to invite our form teacher, Mr Hii Ching Chiong to come to our reunion,” said the organising chairman, Kong Chang Long.

Beside Kong, other former students in the organising committee are Raniah, as the secretary, with the members comprising Yusuf Hadi, Awang Jaya, Polit Hamzah, Andrew Itai, Teo Boon Peng, Jamayah, Elizabeth Tong, Ngui Hua Choon, Razak Suhaili, Han Hipnie and Alexander Isut.

Kong added that in 1967 the school has only two Form Five classes, (one arts and one science), with around 60 students.

“And if I am not mistaken, of the number only 57 of us are still alive, so I hope everyone would be able to attend the reunion dinner on 9 December. I should say that this is the most appropriate time because it is going to happen 50 years after we left the school or our school’s Golden Jubilee,” Kong said.
