FUZHOU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who arrived in Fuzhou, China yesterday with members of his delegation were taken on a conducted tour of the NetDragon Virtual Reality (VR) Campus in Changle near Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province. NetDragon is China’s leading company founded in 1999 that develops and operates multiplayer online games and making mobile applications.

Headquartered in Fuzhou, it had grown into a global interactive education industry software and hardware provider with its presence in numerous countries outside China. Johari in his address after a briefing on the overview of the company’s operations by NetDragon’s vice president Datuk Dr Simon Leung Lim Kin said his visit was primarily to explore ways to introduce Internet-based and interactive learning in Sarawak’s pre-school education.

He said pre-school education was not under the purview of the federal government thus the state government could decide the best approach to ensure firm grounding in digital education right from the pre-school level. Members of the chief minister’s delegation included International Trade and E-Commerce Minister Datuk S er i Wong S o on Koh, Education, Science and Scientific Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani. Earlier, upon arrival at the campus the chief minister and members of his delegation were given a briefing on the company’s virtual reality centre.

The delegation was given insights into interactive classroom learning used in the company’s client countries all over the world. The visit wrapped up with a tour of the company’s founder Liu De Jian’s private office and his private IMAX theatre.
