KABONG: A 100m long concrete walkway costing some RM150,000 has been completed at Kpg Hilir Laut here, replacing the old and worn out wooden walkway.

Kabong Assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir informed that the upgrading works on the walkway began last December and was completed in early February this year.

“The villagers can now heave a sigh of relief.

They can walk through it securely,” said Mohd Chee while officiating at the new walkway at Kpg Hilir Laut here on Tuesday.

Also present at the function were his wife Meryani Mohd Yassin and Kabong District Officer Kamaluddin Alkap.

“I believe the new concrete walkway will be able to increase economic activities in this area and raise the standard of living of the people,” said Mohd Chee.

“I’m always committed to rural development and the needs of the rural people.

I do not want the villagers here to be left out in mainstream development,” he added.

Darmizan Daud, 40, a local spokesman said the swift action of the government in upgrading the walkway to concrete was commendable.

“On behalf of Kabong residents, I expressed our gratitude to Saratok Member of Parliament, Tan Sri William Mawan and Kabong Assemblyman, Mohd Chee Kadir for looking after our needs.

“I believe the residents here will continue to give their full support to the BN government, especially in the upcoming general election,” he said.
