KUCHING: F.I.T (Friend In Town) Café and Catering, at Lot 215, Jalan Nipah Off Jalan Abell Padungan here puts its customers’ choice as top priority. It operates from Monday to Sunday, starting as early as 6.30 am until 9.30 pm.

Owner who is also the head of  chef,  Chef Simon @ Faizal, the owner and head chef said customers’ choice is very important for him. “Whatever dish they request, I will do my utmost for them,” he said when interview speaking to New Sarawak Tribune last Wednesday. With about 35 years of culinary experience, Chef Simon started his career in the kitchen since he was 11 years old.

“From washing dishes, to head chef, the journey has  not been easy, but I believe in patience, because everything goes better after that,” he pointed out.

He said over the years, he picked up and learned items not only confined to the culinary fraternity but also the languages and business flow. “To run a business, I prefer following the Chinese style. Although I am Indian, I waste no opportunity during my working period in learning everything, including learning languages such as Mandarin, other Chinese dialects, Iban and Malay. “Now I can communicate in those languages and dialects, a skill that has boosted my business,” he pointed out.

F.I.T Cafe also specialises in catering for birthday parties, mini parties, eatery outside and inside, lunch, dinner and others.

“We serve Thai, Malay and Indian cuisines not to mention Chinese and Iban traditional dishes too. “Our signature dishes will be our fish head curry, Gula Apong fried noodle, Mamak KL style fried noodle, Seafood wantan and Crispy Noodle with lobster in either Tomato mee or Cantonese style mee,” he said.

On drinks, Chef Simon said they also serve signature drinks such as Classic Coffee, Coffee O Gula Apong and Peria Juice with Honey. “We also have Laksa stall, Porridge stall and others here,” he said. He added that the cafe is open for functions that can accomodate about 80 to 100 people.
