The lights at the hall were dim, but the spotlight fell on the models strutting the runway on stage. Everyone at the venue focused their attention on the catwalk where models consisting of contestants of Dewi Idola Berkarisma 2017 and Jejaka Idola Berkarisma 2017 dressed in different pastel coloured Malay wedding clothing. The models were showcasing bridal outfits with classic and modern designs offered by Petra Enterprise’s subsidiary, Petra Bridal.

This fashion show was part of this year’s Beautiful Beginnings Bridal Fair, jointly organised by the Riverside Majestic Hotel, Grand Margherita Hotel and also Damai Beach Resort, held at Riverside’s Sarawak Chamber Ballroom on March 4. The show highlighted mainly Malay bridal outfits with the brides donning outfits made up of the purple, yellow and white theme colour with a modern stylish twist. The brides also wore fashionable head-scarves to match their outfits.

The men wore the more traditional songket fabric with headgears known as tanjak along with necklaces. While most of the outfits were the long-sleeved and covered up kebaya-esque designs, there were several designs offered by the bridal service provider which also suits those who love the elegant western look.
