PUTRAJAYA: The Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court yesterday dismissed an application to extend the remand order on two Bukit Aman’s Special Task Force for Anti-vice, Gaming and Gangsterism (STAGG) officers.

Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim rejected the application filed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to extend the remand period on the two suspects.

The two senior police officers were earlier remanded for four days from Friday, to facilitate investigations, following the seizure of RM1.5 million in cash by the MACC last Thursday. The MACC detained the two officers at a automobile workshop in Subang Jaya at around 1pm and seized RM341,000 cash from them.

According to a source, the arrest of the two officers with the ranks of Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Superintendent, also led to the seizure of several luxury cars and cash at a condominium owned by one of the suspects and at the STAGG office at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol). The case is being investigated under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009. -Bernama
