KUCHING: A Dialogue Session and Handing DAP Membership Application Ceremony at Kpg Sandong Community Hall recently received an overwhelming responses from the members and as well as the local community.

The ceremony was attended by Special Assistant to Chong Chieng Jen, who also the Sarawak DAP Socialist Youth Publicity Secretary (DAPSY), Abdul Aziz Isa.

“The dialogue session was not only attended by DAP new members but also by some villagers who wanted to know the current political issues and our party struggle. I explained to them the historical background of DAP that fights for social justice, human rights and solidarity. Under the then BN regime government, the Malay communities found that it is a taboo for them to join DAP,

“However, when we became the government in Putratraya, they started to realise that all the propaganda thrown by the then BN regime government via mass media were blatant lies just to scare off the Malay communities,” said Aziz.

He also pointed out that he will not reciprocate BN’s tactics of scaremongering. Instead, he will bring new political cultures to the Malay communities.

“This area falls under the Batu Kitang state constituency which is currently held by Lo Khere Chiang. We under the Pakatan Harapan will focus more on development in their villages and how to uplift their social mobility and socioeconomy. I’ve explained to them at length and they were satisfied with the explanation I gave,

“For the Handing DAP Membership Application Ceremony, a total of 20 new members from the Malay communities submitted their membership application forms to join DAP. From a total of 20 new applicants I’ve received, 15 (75 per cent) of them were males and five (25 per cent) were females,” he said.

Four PBB Kpg Sandong Sub-Branch members officially resigned from the party and joined DAP as their new ward of struggle.

“They have realised that the previous regime policy had treated the Malays like a ransom for they continue voting for BN in order to get a merely small development for their village. Since Lo Khere Chiang became their state representative, they felt neglected by BN (now GPS) despite this area having been a strong BN stronghold for many years,

“But now, under the new government held by Pakatan Harapan, they see a new hope that can bring about check and balance to the PBB and bring more developments in their area. Those who resigned from PBB were the ones who helped us to register DAP’s new members at Kpg Sandong,

“Amazingly half of them are under 35 years of age. When their memberships were approved by the Central DAP Headquarters and National Organising Secretary, they will automatically become members of the DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Stampin Division,” he added.

According to Aziz, there will be a Handing of DAP Membership Application Ceremony for six Bidayuh villages namely Kpg Semeba, Kpg Sudat, Kpg Tematu, Kpg Bumbok, Kpg Dangak and Kpg Betong apart from another nine Malay villages namely Kpg Haji Baki, Kpg Kitang Lama, Kpg Batu Kitang Jaya, Kpg Bukit Panchor, Kpg Lidah Tanah, Kpg Bunga Rampai, Kpg Paya Mebi, Kpg Sebuak and Kpg Landeh.
