Datuk Haji Ir. Daud Abdul Rahman passed away

KUCHING: At 66, Datuk Haji Ir. Daud Abdul Rahman passed away at 4.10pm yesterday at Timberland Medical Centre. 

His passing was confirmed by his daughter, Siti Masitah Haji Daud, 34, who told the press that her father was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday after experiencing stomachache since the first day of raya. 

Medical results confirmed that Daud’s intestines were infected. 

“At 2.30pm yesterday, my father was given life support machine as his breathing got weaker.

“During this time, he experienced cardiac arrest which ultimately led to a great loss to the family,” said Masitah. 

Prior to this, Daud had experience two stroke attacks in 2011 and 2015, which he survived both. 

His body arrived at his residence at 5.40pm and was cleansed accordingly by Islamic rites. 

Daud left a widow, Datin Hajah Noraini Hussin, three children, Mohd Yahya Haji Daud (37), Masitah and Siti Mastura (31) along with two grandchildren. 

Jenazah prayers will be conducted at his residence before proceeding to Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kampung Gita at about 10.00am today (Monday).

The deceased had served the state since 1991 as the N.6 Tupong State Assemblyman, a total of five terms 

until 2016. 

Daud who stood as a Barisan Nasional (BN) went against Permas candidate, Baharuddin Haji Mohsen  with a majority of 5,761 votes.

His last post in the state cabinet were Assistant Minister of Islamic Affairs and Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development. 

He is now succeeded by Fazruddin Abdul Rahman who stood in last year’s state election.
