KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Deputy Director, Dr. Morshidi Ahmad said yesterday that DBKU was actively promoting the importance of conserving the environment to the public through its programmes. He said it was DBKU’s vision to make Kuching clean, safe and beautiful and the public had a role to play in making this possible.

“All of us have a role to play in conserving, protecting our environment and keeping it free from plastics,” Morshidi added during the “Say No To Plastic Bags” sharing session held at a local hotel here yesterday. In support of the cause, DBKU was also encouraging the use of bio-degradable plastic bags, he explained..

The sharing session, which was participated by the government and private sectors, was held after the Treasure Hunt programme; it aimed to create awareness among the participants of the importance of nature conservation and how they could contribute to the cause.

Among the speakers for the sharing session were the Director of Wildlife Conservation Society, Dr Melvin Gumal and Hilton Hotel Kuching’s General Manager, Hamish Watt.
