KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has introduced another initiative by launching the ‘Safety Programme: Patrolling with the Datuk Bandar’.

It is part of their ‘Clean, Beautiful, and Safe’ (CBS) Plan, which aims to decrease crime and increase safety in residential areas.

According to DBKU Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, he hopes it will create and raise awareness of the understanding on how important safety is in residential areas.

“The modus operandi of this patrol is to divide the patrol groups to two big groups which are Kampung Semariang I and Kampung Semariang II.

“Kampung Semariang I will include Kampung Semariang and Kampung Semariang Bati and Kampung Semariang II will include Kampung Semariang Lama, Kampung Semariang Pinggir, Kampung Wawasan Jaya, and Kampung Resettlement Scheme.

“These groups will then patrol at locations identified with representatives from the relevant agencies and departments such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), and the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA).
