KUCHING: Bahasa Melayu should be fresh, dynamic and non-static, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to Tengah, the use of BM statically can make the language extinct as happened to Latin language.

“The proficiency of this language is important in our efforts to communicate with one another.

“The BM standard framework is an initiative to uphold the BM as a national language and ensure that the language is balanced and well-deserved,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the Seminar on Standard Malay Language Framework Series II (KSBM) at Balai Budaya, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sarawak Branch here yesterday.
