KUCHING :A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team from  Simunjan Police Headquarters led by Inspector Norliana Md. Faizal recently arrested a Facebook user known as Kenedy Morie at his house at Rumah Jerugo, Kampung Sagu, Sebuyau.

Sarawak Head CID Chief, SAC  Dato’ Dev Kumar said the suspect, a   21-year-old, was  escorted to  Sri Aman Police Headquarters yesterday  evening for further
investigations.

“The youth had put in his FB account a video clip of a woman being chopped and linked it to a Sri Aman case.  A mobile phone that we believe
was used to post the fake news was seized from him,” added Dev.

The police were alerted to the video clip circulating in the social media depicting a woman apparently being stabbed and beheaded by a masked man, explained Dev.

“Some Facebook users have falsely attributed the video to the Sri Aman murder case where the head of a woman was found at a riverbank at Skait, Sri Aman.

“Checks by the police have confirmed that the video of the woman being stabbed and beheaded originated from a country in South America and is in no way related to the case in Sri Aman,” he said.

“A police report has been lodged against the circulation of the video and we are investigating the case under  the Penal Code and  also the Communication and Multimedia Act.” said Dev.
