SIBU: A total of 329 native customary rights (NCR) landowners who participated in an NCR land development project, Durin Block in Sibu received early Gawai cheers in the form of dividends on Tuesday.

The dividends totalling RM450, 000 was from their joint venture with Ta Ann Pelita Durin Plantation Sdn Bhd. Ta Ann Pelita Durin has turned 902 hectares of NCR land in Durin into oil palm plantations. Speaking at the Durin NCR project Ta Ann Pelita Durin Plantation Sdn Bhd 1st dividend payment ceremony held at Rumah Monica Gelima (formerly Rumah Philip Kayak), general manager of Ta Ann Plantation Sdn Bhd, Simon Ling Yu Kiong said the project involved a total of 902 hectares of NCR land which have been turned into oil palm plantations.

“In 2017, the yield of the project which has been implemented since 2009…was 18,672 metric tons.” Simon therefore on behalf of Ta Ann Pelita Durin thanked all the participants of the project who had given cooperation to the project which in turn brought success to the project.

Present at the event were Pelita Holding Sdn Bhd manager Francis Kiyak and Area Development Commi t tee (ADC) chai rman Councillor Tuai Rumah John Ujang.
