MIRI: A man who claimed to be a representative of an orphanage in Permyjaya here has stolen a donation box placed at an eatery here last Wednesday afternoon.
A recording from a CCTV installed at the eatery caught the suspect who came to the eatery and stole the donation box.
According to a source, the suspect who claimed to be a representative of the orphanage had requested to take the donation box away.
The suspect had also promised the eatery manager that he would return the donation box the following day. Unfortunately until today, the man never showed up.
Out of curiosity, the eatery manager made a phone call to the person in charge of the orphanage asking about the so called ‘representative’.
After the telephone call and a check on recording of CCTV installed at the eatery it was clear that the man was not from the orphanage.
A police report has been lodged.
