KUCHING: The upgrading of a futsal court at Kampung Tanjung Bako costing around RM200,000 was part of the Demak Laut Rural Transformation Project (RTP) in 2017.

This was pointed out by Demak Laut Assemblyman, Dr Haji Hazland Abang Hipni when he declared open an upgraded  futsal court at Kpg Tanjung Bako last Sunday.

“This is a project under Demak Laut’s state constituency development programme. We will upgrade this futsal court from time to time,” he said, adding that the construction of five new futsal courts have been approved in the Demak Laut state constituency this year.

“The five futsal courts to be built are one each in Kampung Pinggan Jaya, Kampung Muhibbah, Kampung Semilang, Kampung Bako Hijrah and Kampung Bako Hulu,” said Dr Hazland.

Touching on the request by Tanjung Bako Village chief, Haji Rajidin Narawi on a water gate project, Dr Hazland explained that the project costing RM150,000 has been approved this year.

“When this water gate project is completed it will stop the sea water from entering the futsal court area and a few houses in this village. The project has been approved and must be completed this year,” he said.

Dr Hazland also suggested the villagers and committee to build a Village Community Service Centre in the village.

“I was informed that there is an abandoned house in this village and I suggest that the village community service centre costing RM100,000 be built on the site.

“Before this, we had built similar centre at Kampung Sejingkat, Kampung Senari and next year a few centres will be built.

“This centre later can be used by PBB JKKK, Seberkas women members and any organisation in this village to conduct activities such as talk, workshop and others,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also urged the village development and security committee (JKKK) to submit an application to Demak Laut Service Centre to build a football field and takraw court.

“The site for the takraw court has been identified which is beside the futsal court. Hence, I want the application letter for the takraw court be immediately sent to our service centre.

“Regarding the football field, I was informed that it has been proposed to Santubong MP and the state government will build it. We have enough fund for the project,” he said.

During the event Dr Hazland also presented prizes to winners of the PBB Youth Futsal Competition 2018 held last month.

Also present were Kampung Pinggan Jaya village chief, Abang Merawi and PBB Tanjung Balo Youth chief, Suzuki Puji.
