BELURU Baram: A 65-year-old car driver was injured after he was attacked by two foreign men yesterday morning. It was believed that the two foreign men had used sharp objects to attack the driver. The incident was reported to have occurred near a junction to Loagan Bunut National Park, 117 kms from Miri city around 9am.

Prior to the incident, the driver had picked up the two suspects at Mamut’s Junction and dropped them off near a junction to Loagan Bunut National Park as requested. Initial investigations revealed that there was a misunderstanding between the victim and the two suspects which resulted in the attack. It is believed that the suspects are Indonesians.

After the incident, the two suspects fled from the scene. Fortunately, the injured driver managed to drive away from the scene to a clinic at Beluru, Baram where he was immediately attended to by a medical staff on duty. Baram police chief, DSP Gabriel Risut confirmed receiving a report on the incident and added that the police are investigating the case.
