KUCHING: A businessman, aged 37, and an unemployed woman, aged 36, were arrested on Thursday night for peddling drugs and could face a mandatory death by hanging upon conviction.

They have reportedly have been peddling drugs since 2017. Acting on information received, a Narcotics team from Badruddin police headquarters raided a house in Merdang Garden, Kota Samarahan and found the duo inside.

Police searched and found 32 transparent plastic packets containing crystals of suspected syabu-type drugs with gross weight of 472.30grams, 1 silver plastic bag containing (1) transparent plastic containing crystalline suspected crystalline drug syabu with gross weight of 72.07grams. The total  estimated value of the drugs is RM81,656.

Police also seized other properties including Toyota Estimate (with an estimated value of RM60,000);   an Isuzu D-Max ( with an estimated value of RM60,000):  a Perodua Myvi (with an estimated value of RM35,000):  cash amounting to RM9,600 and one (1) gold bracelet (estimatedly valued at RM4,480).

Total estimated value of seized items was  RM169,080. The male suspect has a previous record while the woman has none. Both have been  ordered to be remanded.
