KUCHING: Beting Maro State Assemblyman, Razaili Gapor has called on the Education Ministry to take appropriate action and monitor the rebuilding of four dilapidated primary schools in Beting Maro using the Industrialised Building System (IBS).
The four primary schools are SK Kalok, SK Semarang, SK Spinang and SK Tambak.
The rebuilding of these dilapidated primary schools in Beting Maro, Razaili explained, had been promised by the Prime Minister during the 11th State Election.
He said the projects, which could have been completed within seven to nine weeks, had not been completed after nearly a year.
Meanwhile, a few blocks of buildings had been demolished, waiting to be replaced.
The State Assemblyman said in his debate speech at the State Legislative Assembly here on Tuesday: “These are causing trouble and inconveniences to the students and the schools because there are not enough classrooms.”
Razaili also stressed the need to implement the kampung expansion scheme for Kampung Pusa, Beladin, Tambak, Spinang and Semarang in the Beting Maro Constituency which were experiencing rapid population growth.
“The provision of housing settlement lots, which are more organised and equipped with infrastructure, and affordable homes is very much needed in these villages,” he said.
Razaili said applications for the kampung expansion project had been submitted to the government for
consideration. “I hope that the government would grant land titles to the villagers in the Beting Maro Constituency,” he said.
