MIRI:  An eatery at Jalan Miri Airport lost more than RM1,700 after thieves broke into the premises on Tuesday and carted away eight LPG gas cylinders.

After the eatery owner discovered the break-in around 9.30 am he immediately lodged a police report.

A check on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed at the at premises showed two cars (a Perodua Kancil and a Toyota Corolla) had parked near the premises and two men were seen walking to the back door and loading the LPG gas cylinders into both cars before the cars sped off.

It was believed the incident occurred around 8.00 am.

The front and back shutters of the premises were damaged and it was believed that the thieves might have gained entry via one of the doors.

As at press time, no arrest has been made as police are still investigating the case.
