MIRI: The National Anti Narcotic Agency (AADK)   managed to detain eight men who were tested positive for drugs during a joint operation conducted at Miri-Pujut Road here on Wednesday night.

The Miri District AADK Officer, Mazlan Jikran said the eight detained are aged between 19 and 25 years.

“Urine tests conducted on the nine suspects revealed that they were positive for ganja (cannabis) and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.

Mazlan added that the eight would be investigated under Section 3 (1) Drug Addiction Act (Treatment & Rehabilitation) 1983 where they can be admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre for two years or ordered to be on good behaviour bond for two or three years upon conviction.

He added that the joint operation was conducted together with Miri Police Traffic Unit in conjunction with ‘Ops Perdana’ which was held simultaneously state wide.
