TATAU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun, 63, had a lucky escape when the four-wheel drive he was driving skidded off the road and crashed into an oil palm tree due to slippery road conditions. The accident happened at around 6.30 pm last Saturday at Km88 of the Sibu-Bintulu Road.

Entulu, who is also Selangau Member of Parliament, and his wife, Datin Jacklyne Anthony, 29, were on their way to pay last respects to a relative who died at Rumah Chuat, Arip, Balingian. After the accident, Entulu, who was driving, was sent to a clinic for examination and discharged after he was found to be not seriously injured.

Meanwhile, the Minister told Bernama that the vehicle he was driving spun and crashed into an oil palm tree after it skidded. He said he had breathing difficulties after emerging from his car and that villagers near the scene of the accident took him and his wife to Tatau Health Clinic.

He said he did not sustain any serious injuries but only body aches while his wife was a little traumatised by the accident.

Entulu added that his four-wheel drive was damaged on the bonnet and side. The Minister, who returned to Kuala Lumpur yesterday, told Bernama that the incident was one of the challenges of being an elected representative.
